European propertyWhen buying property abroad you need to be just as careful if not more so than when you are buying property in the UK. This is because although the sale system is very similar you need to make sure you are protected against anything that could go wrong through out the sale process. One of the main factors when buying abroad is choosing the right location.

Here is a guide to follow that explains the different things you need to consider when buying property abroad and the processes that many people follow.

- Choosing location – When choosing the location for your property abroad you will need to take a few things into consideration before even deciding on the country. Some of these things include;

o Do you want the property to be near the sea or in a more urban area?

o How close do you want the local amenities and tourist facilities to be?

o How close will the nearest airport have to be?

o How near to local public transport will you need to be?

Once you have all these questions answered you will be able to start looking for a suitable location. There will be many different places that will have the requirements you ask for so you will have to think about things like the weather etc. for you to gain a better idea of the right location. You may even be best speaking to both professionals here in the UK and those abroad to be absolutely sure the area offers everything you expect it to. When you have all the above questions answered and the location chosen you then need to think about the style of accommodation you require.

- Style of property – There are now many different types of property available abroad so you need to think about the kind that will be most suited for the purpose you require it to serve. This is usually determined by whether you will be living in the property or if you will be buying it to rent out to tourists. If you wanted to rent it out then you may be best with a more modern simple floor plan where as if you were going to live there yourself it would be down to personal preference. You would also need to think about things such as the size of the garden because if you were going to be living in the property then you may want the garden to be bigger than if you were going to rent it out. This is because when renting out property you want the property and land surrounding to be as easy as possible to maintain.

As well as taking these points into consideration you would be best having the help of someone that speaks the local language of the country you want to buy your property in. This is because if you don’t know how to speak the local language it would be very difficult for you to negotiate with the local estate agents if they didn’t speak much English.
